Milestone Environmental Services, an industry leader in oilfield waste disposal, announced the ground breaking of its new slurry injection facility located near Pecos, Texas. The new full-service facility is the sixth to join the five existing locations in South and East Texas, and will be capable of taking waste streams including oil-based and water-based muds/drilling fluids, flowback, tank bottoms, dirty water and produced water. Milestone accepts oilfield waste streams and injects them over a mile below the earth’s surface, where they are safely sequestered beneath multiple confining layers of stone.

Gabriel Rio, President & Chief Executive Officer of Milestone, states, “We are pleased to bring professional oilfield waste management solutions to a part of the Permian Basin that has historically lacked critical environmental infrastructure. With the addition of our Pecos facility, Milestone will be positioned to provide Permian Basin E&P operators with a safe, environmentally sustainable solution for the disposal of oilfield waste that is dependable and easily accessible.”

Milestone has taken their proven design to the next level of operational excellence. This next-generation facility design will improve efficiency and handling capacity and reduce unloading and washout times for E&P customers.

Milestone realized the importance of their customers’ expectations, along with improving the safety environment for their employees. Over the past several months, Milestone’s operations and engineering teams focused on creating best-in-class cycle time efficiency and safety enhancements.

Gary Olliff, Senior Vice President, Engineering, said, “The team approach we used in the re-design has resulted in an improved, highly efficient facility that differentiates Milestone by offering the shortest cycle times in the industry.”

The Pecos facility marks Milestone’s first entrance into the Permian Basin. In 2016, Milestone plans to construct multiple new facilities in the region and other major US E&P basins. These new facilities will provide proximate, more efficient options for customers actively drilling and producing in these key shale plays.

Milestone has been a premium provider of injectable oilfield waste disposal, operating for more than 20 years. The company is an industry-leading innovator and one of the first companies in the U.S. to commercially use slurry injection, a process that has set new standards for efficiency and environmental security for managing oilfield wastes. Milestone is backed by Intervale Capital, a private equity firm investing exclusively in oilfield manufacturing and service companies.
